Bringing Health Care to Rural Burkina Faso
In Burkina Faso, many people live without the benefits of immunizations against disease, basic livelihood skills or knowledge of nutrition and healthcare. The nation's healthcare infrastructure remains dysfunctional as countless numbers of citizens suffer from HIV/AIDS and other preventable opportunistic and infectious diseases. Infant mortality rates are high due in part to mother-to-child HIV/AIDS transmission. In this blighted setting, this project seeks to establish a health center to treat the sick and educate the population on preventive healthcare and sanitary behaviors, with the aim of improving living standards.Through this project pregnant mothers and children will enjoy better health and hundreds of women will learn to better care for their children and other community members. Villagers will also learn how to use government programs and other resources.
