Take Action on World AIDS Day
with Bridges of Hope International Network of Development Agencies

World AIDS Day 2009 is an excellent way for us all to reflect on the
sobering reality of life in the developing world.

For instance, did you know that by 2010, there could be as many as
20 million children orphaned by AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa?  At present, there are 11 million orphans suffering from this debilitating condition.  This roughly translates to one in every 10 child in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In Canada, HIV is seen as a chronic, but manageable condition now.  With
drug treatment, many in the West with HIV can now live indefinitely and
can live a semi-normal life.  In fact, it is no longer a foregone conclusion
that those who contract HIV will develop AIDS.

In the developing world, however, this is not the situation.  While many are being helped, access to these drugs and treatment is not guaranteed.
Those affected are still affected by the social stigma that accompanies
infection.

Bridge of Hope International Network of Development Agencies is humbly
doing its best to help those affected by this terrible affliction, along with
their families.  With your assistance, we endeavouring to make a
difference to support programs for orphans and vulnerable children and
our HIV medical clinic in Burkina.

Please join with us here at Bridges of Hope in remembering those who
have died in their struggle with this condition.  We hope you will also join us in our belief that by working together we can all work to find a cure for this
disease and that we can help communities in addressing the needs of
those afflicted.  We can allow those who live with it to enjoy a bountiful life
free of stigma and prejudice.

Orphanage Burkina

Make a difference by providing care at the Bridges of Hope orphanage which keeps 160 orphans in good health per year.

This allows 160 orphans to  be placed with different families and provides counsel to 400 orphans and vulnerable children and their foster parents every week.

Medical clinic

With your help, Bridges of Hope works
to bring health care to rural Burkina Faso.
