We are a faith based organization working with indigenious peoples, predominately in the Guadalajara region of Mexico.
One of our objectives is to educate communities on the need for clean water and proper sanitation practices, and to provide effective and inexpensive water filters. In the process of doing so we also seek to provide families with micro business opportunities ranging from sewing projects to commisions on filter sales. There is a great need for clean water in most of these communities, the lack of which is causing serious illness amongst the young and elderly.
Another big part of our ministry is to provide "Days For Girls" kits, along with appropriate health teaching, to school girls grades 6 up and to their mothers and other village womwn. These hygiene kits are radically changing the lives of women in poor communities by alowing them to attend school, work and everyday activities during their menstral cycle. so far we have distributed 800+ kits to villages around Lake Chapala and to the Huichol people in the Sierra Madres.
Our future plans are to continue the work we have begun, and expand on it, but also to create sewing cooperatives and other businesses that will support groups within these disadvantaged areas. These initiatives will enable local villagers to gain an income for their families where no present opportunity exists, while developing a skill that can be passed down to their children.
In the near future we are bringing these same vauable services to villagers in Costa Rica and El Salvador, hoping to fill the needs of peoples there.
Always, in everything we do, we seek to share the love of God in Christ to all those we meet.
