Medical Outreach

Bridges of Hope is involved in various international programs that are profoundly impacting the way children, families and communities are living. Through our network, we provide things like clean water, food, health care and education.

Hope is rising in the hearts of many. Bridges of Hope welcomes volunteers with a passion and compassion for the less fortunate and a readiness and willingness to share in the stories of children and their communities whose lives are being transformed by our valuable sponsors.

We invite you to witness this change through our Global Connection Experience (GCE) and Medical Outreach Programs.  Come see it for yourself, live it yourself, seek to understand and share the story of hope!

HAITI

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where 70% of is 7 million people live on less than a dollar a day. It is a country without access to clean drinking water and where over 30% of all children born don’t make it to the age of 5 years. It is a land of instability and violence beginning the long road to recovery.

Bridges of Hope with Haiti Village Health and Lifeline Haiti are making a difference and need your help.

Our medical clinic continues as normal in our seaside village of Bodme Limbe, 90 minutes north of Cap- Haitien. We are continuing to expand our programs in the community. We have started our vaccination program and plan to continue it every 2 months and eventually reach out to cover the entire region of Bas Limbe. We are doing this in conjunction with the department of health who provide the vaccines. Our teams do the vaccination and well baby/child checks alongside our Haitian staff, providing education as needed. We generally have 2-3 volunteers who remain back at the general medical clinic. They assist the local doctor/staff providing education support for them, and of course assist with patient care. We also have started doing rural prenatal outreach where our nurse and health agent visit a different community weekly. With a medical team, the plan would be to do mass prenatal clinics throughout the region, again, alongside our Haitian staff.

In July, we took over control of a clinic in Shada. It is located in the slums of Cap-Haitien and is the only low cost clinic in the area servicing approximately 25,000. The clinic is currently open 2 days per week. The goal is to have the clinic running at 5 days/week but funding is currently our limiting factor. Teams that visit this clinic host general medical clinics, well child clinics or prenatal clinics in conjunction with our Haitian staff. Accommodation is provided with our friends at Haiti Hospital Appeal not far from the airport in Cap-Haitien.

BURKINA FASO
